Press Release

Law of beasts in Kashmir—Muhammad Farooq Rehmani

Islamabad, 09 Jul, 2010: Muhammad Farooq Rehmani Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League has called upon  the United Nations  Secretary General  to send his special emissary to Srinagar Kashmir, where the law of beasts prevails under the protection of the Indian Government; civilians especially young  people are targeted and killed for being Kashmiris  and taking part in peaceful protest demonstrations against the forcible Indiana rule and gross and flagrant violations of basic human rights of the Kashmiris. In his statement he condemned killings of at least four youth by the CRPF in Batmaloo, Maisumah and Kupwarah and other curfew-bound towns and delivery of fresh army contingents from India to boost the morale of the military, which had failed to quell the agitation against India. Muhammad Farooq Rehmani urged India to follow the ideology of non violence as preached by Ghandhi Ji and abandon its policy of keeping Kashmir forcibly under its rule that could jeopardize peace in the entire region of South Asia. He said the Kashmiris wanted the right of self determination which was recognized by the World body and India and Pakistan. He asked India to prove by any count its legality and popularity in Kashmir; if the overwhelming majority of the Kashmiris could not remain satisfied with India during all these 62 years of the rule ,how could they do it now. ”The United Nations should ponder over it without further delay and its members should not show cynicism.” he remarked.
