Detention of Syed Ali Geelani will worsen situation – Muhammad Farooq Rehmani
Islamabad, 09 Sep, 2010: Muhammad Farooq Rehmani Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League has strongly condemned fresh detention of Syed Ali Geelani chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference, terming it as one more provocative and harsh step to prevent him from celebrating Eidul-Fitr with his people in Srinagar and crush protests against the Palhalan tragedy. He also denounced Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s house arrest, regretting that instead of releasing other political detenues from their detention, the puppet Omar regime was bent upon depriving pro-freedom leaders of their right to offer Eid prayers at public places in their home towns. On the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani paid tribute to the valiant sons of Jammu and Kashmir who with their unprecedented freedom struggle were moving the world and writing a glorious chapter of the history of Kashmir. He said curfew and killings would never stop the people’s onward march towards the liberation of the homeland. Eulogizing the current struggle of the Kashmiris for their sacred goal, he said that it was matchless in Asia’s history and its continuation in the present peaceful manner would force India to pullout its army and paratroopers from Kashmir. He paid homage to those Kashmiris who have sacrificed their lives in the ongoing struggle—pledging that the Kashmiris would never forget them and carry forward their mission honestly and sincerely.
