Srinagar, December 10 (agencies): In occupied Kashmir, a forceful protest demonstration under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League was held in Srinagar on the World Human Rights Day, today, to denounce Indian state terrorism in the territory.
The demonstration was led by the JKPFL General Secretary, Haji Ghulam Ahmad Paray. The objective of the demonstration was to protest against the detention, life term death sentence, harassment, humiliation, arrest of minors, persecution and desecration of the places of worship.
The protesters urged India to stop its reign of terror and torture against the people and asked the UN to fulfil its responsibilities in line with its charter and resolutions to resolve the lingering Kashmir dispute.
The protesters raised slogans against highhandedness of police, which stopped them from marching towards United Nations Observers’ office to present a memorandum to the UN officials.
The march was stopped at Residency Road in Srinagar by Police. The party General Secretary, Haji Ghulam Ahmad Paray along with dozens of activists including Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah, Gulzar Ahmad Khanday, Ghulam Nabi Khanday and Shoukat Ahmad were arrested by the police before they could reach the UN office in Srinagar.
The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in a statement condemned the arrests of the party activists.
