Jamal Afghani and other martyrs will never be forgotten – Muhammad Farooq Rehmani

PFL paid rich tributes to martyred leader on his 19th anniversary
Muzaffarabad, 16 December, 2012: The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League Muhammad Farooq Rehmani has in a statement here paid glowing tributes to the life and sacrifices of Abdul Khaliq Ganai alias Jamal Afgani ─ who was arrested by Indian army on 14th December 1993 and tortured to death, throwing his mutilated dead body on the Sopore Kupwara road.
In his commemoration, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani eulogized recollected his struggle and sacrifice for the freedom of Kashmir vowing that the Kashmiris would always remember Jamal Afghani’s role as a front rank freedom fighter and commander who worked for the cause of Kashmir tirelessly from 1970s till his martyrdom in 1993. He said, “The ongoing Kashmir movement has an unparalleled power of resistance against tyranny and illegal occupation and will never fade way.” Pointing to the role of the United Nations, he said the world body should initiate solid measures, for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in line with its resolutions to save Kashmir, where already over one hundred thousand inhabitants have been martyred by India during the past 22 years of struggle and turmoil.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said, “Without Kashmir’s freedom, peace will continue to remain a pipe- dream in South Asia. It is necessary to translate the dream of peace and progress into reality, and create a congenial atmosphere in the sub-continent to resolve the conflict. It is of paramount importance to restore all basic liberties in Kashmir: repeal all black laws, release political detainees, stop all forms of persecution and prosecution of pro -freedom workers and leaders; including their life term and death sentences. The UN should come forward to find a durable solution of the long standing conflict between Pakistan, Kashmir and India.”
People offered Fateh at the grave of the Jamal Afghani in Kaloosa-Bandipora, and a meeting was held at the office of the People’s Freedom League in Srinagar to commemorate his martyrdom. The general Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League, Haji Ghulam Ahmad Paray on the occasion vowed to continue the peaceful struggle for the liberation of Jammu and Kashmir.
