Srinagar Jan 8: Muhammad Farooq Rehmani Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League has strongly condemned police atrocities on political workers and youth in different parts of the valley.

He said that the regime had turned ruthless against the people to malign everybody as a terrorist and implicate them in police-concocted accusations. The ulterior motive behind anti-people tirade of the establishment is to curb the peaceful politicalmovement for freedom of Jammu and Kashmir, continuing for the last several years. He warned that India would never won this war against the peaceful people of Kashmir, because they would never abandon their struggle for the just cause of the right of self determination
The PFL chairman said that the regime of Umar Abdullah to please the army remained restless without terrorizing and imprisoning the innocent people of the State, so the establishment would do any devil’s work for their personal gains. He castigated the regime for sentencing a 15 year old boy, 10th class student of Shopian to prison under the notorious so called Public Safety Act(PSA) and urged his release without any delay. He also demanded release of all the detained workers of Hurriyat conference and civil society languishing in different jails for many years. He said the regime, notorious for its highhandedness and corruption in every walk of public life was continuously dishonoring the release orders of the High Court-a shameful act of its nature.-KGN

Obama’s support to India’s ambitions is ominous – Farooq Rehmani

November 9, 2010 Leave a comment

Tribute to Iqbal

Islamabad 09 Nov, 2010: Muhammad Farooq Rehmani Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom has said the support promised by Barack Obama US President to India for the UNSC without any assurance for the resolution of the Kashmir issue is not a good omen for peace and prosperity of India and Pakistan.

Similarly, a simple reference to Kashmir as a long time dispute by Obama, and Indian Prime Minister’s usual Bombay proverb linking India-Pakistan talks with it will not foresee a tension-free future for the sea of humanity living an impoverished life in the region. He said that the Kashmiris feared stepped up human rights violations by India and obduracy regarding a peaceful resolution of their issue, as the ”US agreed to remove the restrictions that were preventing India from gaining full acceptance in the exclusive nuclear club and from acquiring nuclear technology from other nations.”
He said that the Kashmir was not only an old dispute but had always simmering character along with the sacrifices of the people not related with any particular time of India-Pakistan conflict. Emphasizing the continuity of the struggle for freedom and human rights he said that Kashmir was not a dispute over property rights of some countries, rather a basic question of the rights especially the right of self determination of over 13 million human beings—the inhabitants of the region. Therefore, if America has reservations to mediate on this question, it should urge India to abandon her negative role on a tripartite dialogue between Pakistan, India and Kashmir to arrive at a lasting solution of the dispute.
Tribute to Iqbal
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in another statement paid homage to Allama Iqbal on his 133 birth anniversary saying that Iqbal the poet and philosopher of East equally impressed West, produced intuitive poetry, moved history, law and philosophy of our times inspiring people generation after generation to revolutionize human thought in every age. He was a Kashmiri who placed Kashmir on the pages of his verses, organized and patronized Kashmir movement for freedom in 1930s.He will always shine on the horizon of classic poetry, religious thought, philosophy and politics and no age will forget his melodious and lucid verse imbued with intrinsic spiritual and moral power. Iqbal says, ” Be not entangled in this world of days and nights; Thou hast another time and space as well.”

Arrest of Rafiq Ganai and Yasmeen Raja Condemned
Condemnation over Continuous Curfew in Bandipora
Islamabad 31 Oct 2010: Muhammad Farooq Rehmani Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League has strongly condemned once again arrest of Party General Secretary Muhammad Rafiq Ganai, in South Kashmir Islamabad Dist. At the same time police are harassing other workers and sympathizers of the People’s Freedom League.
He also condemned the detention of Yasmeen Raja Chief of Khawateen Markaz in Srinagar. He said that as the day of Barack Obama’s visit to India was approaching, Police terrorism was being intensified against youth in Kashmir which meant that the Govt. of India wanted to prevent any protest strike in Jammu and Kashmir and label the freedom struggle as terrorism.
However, the people of Jammu and Kashmir would emphasize on the United States President that the Kashmiris were fighting only for the right of self-determination as promised to them by India, Pakistan, and the world body.
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said that support by Indian writers like Arundhati Roy and Gautam Navlakha was encouraging and proved that the struggle had no communal or terroristic touch but the issue had its own history based upon reality, never contradicted by the United Nations organization.
Meanwhile Muhammad Farooq Rehmani strongly condemned the continuous curfew imposition by Umer Abdullah govt in Bandipora town, and in Palhalan Pattan.

Curfew day after day will mar students and poor

Deoband’s stand on Kashmir unacceptable – Muhammad Farooq Rehmani

Islamabad, 14 Oct, 2010: Muhammad Farooq Rehmani has condemned re-imposing of curfew and police brutalities against the Kashmiris warning that the imposition of curfew day after day will only tell upon the economic condition of the people and moreover mar the educational career of millions of students in the turbulent zones. He said that there was a conspiracy to keep masses away from education as the modern world was not going to recognize any illiterate or semi-literate nation on earth and certainly faith, future, and bread of these unfortunate people would lurk in danger. He urged on the United Nation’s Education and Health Council and OIC to prevail on India and prevent it from marring career of the Kashmiri students whose schools, colleges and universities today present a dark picture in comparison to 1980s. He said although rich and influential people send their children abroad for education but where the sons of poor, unheard people and political victims would go. He asked every section of the society to get answer of this most delicate question without wasting time of their student generation.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani Chairman Jammu And Kashmir People’s Freedom League has characterized the statement of Darul-Uloom Deoband on the dispute accession of Jammu and Kashmir as contrary to the historical facts of partition and ground scenario of this state ignoring great human sacrifices of the Kashmiris in the past twenty years for freedom and right of self determination. He said that the Ulemas of the great institution should not deviate from the mission of Islam for pleasing wrongly congress rulers. "Darul-Uloom should focus on Islam, and Islamic and modern learning and social and economic uplift of Indian Muslims," adding that its remarks on Kashmir issue are untenable, illogical and incredible and have injured sentiments of Kashmiris—involved in a desperate fight for the freedom of their homeland from India.
