Kashmir needs direct UN focus—Muhammad Farooq Rehmani

Islamabad, 29 Jun, 2010: Muhammad Farooq Rehmani Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League has expressed great concern over the stepped up police atrocities and use of indiscriminate brute force against common demonstrators in Jammu and Kashmir. Condemning in very strong words killing of youth in the northern area of Kashmir, crack down on peaceful political demonstrators, undeclared curfew in parts of the state and large scale arrests of Hurriyat leaders and workers in Srinagar, he said that it gave the impression that the United Nations and its Council for Human Rights did not bother to keep abreast of the burning situation in Jammu and Kashmir, where people were being treated like sheep and goats. He said that the threat to life of people was increasing day by day, so it was the duty of the world body to call an emergency session of the General Assembly, make India answerable before it and force her to abolish inhuman laws in the region and follow the International Human Rights Law in Kashmir. He warned otherwise India would not extinguish the current flames in the region and no bilateral talk or the so called peace diplomacy would bail out India in Kashmir.

Large scale brutalities condemned—Muhammad Farooq Rehmani

Islamabad, 25 Jun 2010: Muhammad Farooq Rehmani Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League has strongly condemned fresh wave of police brutalities, killings of youth and large scale arrests of people and APHC workers/leaders including the Chairman of the conglomerate Syed Ali Gilani under the black law Public Safety Act—warning that latest curbs on the basic liberties and fundamental rights will further aggravate the situation and could not encourage a conducive environment for talks to resolve the long standing dispute of Kashmir in the region. He reiterated the stand that only course left for India was to abolish all draconian laws and order military pull-out from Kashmir and accept any third party mediation for resolving the burning topic of Kashmir.

*Pak-Indo talks must focus inhuman laws and atrocities: Muhammad Farooq
Rehmani*

*Islamabad, 21 Jun, 2010:* Muhammad Farooq Rehmani Chairman J&K People’s
Freedom League has emphasized the significance of obtaining clear-cut
assurances from India to abolish all the inhuman and draconian laws to
create conducive atmosphere for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute. He
was addressing a meeting of the members of the JKPFL on the current human
rights and political condition of Kashmir—deteriorating fast due to India’s
callous disregard of peaceful demands of the population. A resolution was
adopted by the organization to condemn the latest killing of a young boy in
Srinagar by the paramilitary forces and Pakistan was urged to raise the
issue of atrocities and the public demand regarding the abolition of black
laws with India at the very outset of the bilateral dialogue in the coming
days. The party vowed to gear up its strategy for the achievement of the
right of self determination amidst unruly wind- storm and praised the heroic
struggle of the Kashmiris for their birth right—the right of freedom, and
self determination.
